White House trade adviser apologizes for inappropriate comments on Canadian PM

At a news conference after his meeting with Kim, the president said the Canadian leader must not have realized that Trump had televisions on Air Force One, allowing him to monitor Trudeau's news conference at the end of the G-7 summit.

Trudeau, who had said at the news conference that Canada would retaliate for new US tariffs, didn't respond to questions about Trump when the prime minister arrived at a Quebec City hotel Sunday for meetings with other world leaders.

"Let me correct a mistake I made", Navarro said at a Wall Street Journal conference Tuesday, according to video provided by the newspaper's CFO Network.

On Sunday, Navarro, who is Trump's most hawkish trade adviser, assailed Trudeau for engaging in "bad faith diplomacy" in the wake of the G-7 meeting.

Canadians outraged by US President Donald Trump's attack on their prime minister have called for a consumer boycott targeting the United States, but indignation may be hard to sustain in a nation enamored by US popular culture and larded with American gods.

"And that's what bad faith Justin Trudeau did with that stunt press conference", Navarro said.

Trudeau did not seem eager to match Trump's rancor.

They do also seem to have a side project, which uses Rodman to promote peace, love and unity. Rodman said Obama "just brushed me off" and "didn't even give me the time of day".

In addition to rejecting the insults aimed at Mr. Trudeau, the measure passed Monday said that lawmakers "strongly oppose the illegitimate tariffs imposed by the USA government against Canadian steel and aluminum workers" and "stand in solidarity with the Government of Canada in its decision to impose retaliatory tariffs".

"We finished the (G7) meeting and really everybody was happy".

The White House tripled down on the Trudeau attack when it sent two top aides onto the Sunday morning talk shows.

Rep. Trent Kelly thinks the relationship between the USA and Canada remains strong and that the countries will work out their differences.

While Trudeau himself has kept a low profile since the USA attacks, Canadians incensed on his behalf have zeroed in on a pocketbook response. That's what weak, dishonest Justin Trudeau did. On Trump's favourite measure, the trade balance, the United States maintains a small surplus with Canada, with each side selling about US$335 billion (K454.5 trillion) worth of goods and services to the other in 2017. So Trump's national security justification is so laughable that Republicans who have been willing to stick by Trump through every other blunder are ready to work with Democrats to block these tariffs by holding military spending hostage.

"The historic and important agreement we all reached at #G7Charlevoix will help make our economies stronger & people more prosperous, protect our democracies, safeguard our environment and protect women & girls' rights around the world", he wrote. "Canada does have very big advantages on us in terms of trade deficits". Trump wrote in another post on Twitter.

He complained again about the news conference Mr. Trudeau gave after the President left the Group of Seven summit early - suggesting the PM expected to sneak in pugnacious phrases while Mr. Trump was on a flight to Singapore. "You put the president in a position where he's going off to this very tough negotiation, he does have to do a turn and burn or else he looks weak as he heads into this other event".
