The only way you could possibly put an end to all those talks is with a contract extension, but Irving made it cleare that is not going to happen.

Irving spoke with the media on Tuesday and answered several questions, including some about his contract status.

Fellow All-Star Kevin Love admitted that he has asked numerous "what ifs" questions if Irving had opted to continue donning the wine and gold. Boston would take a 3-2 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals over LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers but the Celtics would drop the final two games of the series. "You try to focus on what's important, what we need for going into next year, how being aware of who we have now, what we're capable of, the things that we need to kind of fix or get done, and go from there".

On whether playing on what is essentially a one-year contract could have an adverse impact on the Celtic process, Irving said, "The focus is exclusively on winning a championship next year".

Once they do get back into it, Irving believes that he and his teammates will be in store for some special experiences together.

Although he was disappointed he wasn't able to contribute during the playoffs, Irving said the team playing well without him was "only beneficial".

"I think you guys can feel my attitude is really just redemption next year", Irving said. "It was going to be a process coming back, just making sure I'm healthy enough for September, so just trying not to push it too hard, just taking my time with the rehab and just feeling good".

Here's Why Meghan Markle Was Not Front & Center at Balcony Debut
She was central rather than the alternative of being in the front row and along the balcony to the left or right", he added. The day started with a grand military parade and the arrivals of the royals via carriages.

"It's encouraging", Irving told Robb of his time in Boston. "Just integrating myself with our team again and really focusing on winning a championship".

Irving spoke to reporters today about his future.

There will nearly certainly be hot take artists who read that from Irving and do the "he's not committed to the team" nonsense that we've come to expect out of radio hosts and columnists from the otherwise great city of Boston.

Sources say Green is not expected to take a pay cut on the next go-around. "We have championship pedigree".

"In this business, I've experienced it all and I've seen a lot, so we'll see what management decides", Irving said of the possibility of reuniting with his former Cavaliers teammate, after their relationship ended on a sour note with Irving reportedly asking to be traded and step out from James' shadow.

That's how Boston acquired Irving last summer - and why there are merits to moving on from him this summer.
