Both Mr. Kim and Mr. Trump nonetheless appeared to revel in the pageantry of creating historic images, smiling and repeatedly shaking hands as they sat down for the first-ever summit between sitting leaders of the two countries.

Predicting a tremendous success of the summit, Trump said it was "an honor" to meet with Kim face-to-face and that he would have "a terrific relationship" with the DPRK leader. Kim called the sit-down a "good prelude for peace" and Trump pledged that "working together we will get it taken care of".

Trump and Defense Secretary Jim Mattis have insisted the USA military presence and longstanding alliance with the South is not on the table in talks with the North.

Before Kim's departure, the president heaped praise on the young dictator, saying he learned from their meeting that he's "a very talented man" who "loves his country very much".

"If you're friends, then you don't have to arm yourselves and point weapons at each other", he said.

"It's interesting because we believe Kim speaks English - he was educated in Switzerland and speaks German, but Trump seems to be the only one talking during their bit of chit chat", Professor Hajek told Yahoo7.

We wonder whether they were comparing portable toilets because we know Kim Jong-un takes one everywhere.
