Those games included "Battlefield 5" from Electronic Arts, "Fallout 76" from Bethesda Softworks and "Tom Clancy's The Division 2" from Ubisoft.

"When we started this project, the team's vision for the game was ambitious - so much so that we knew we had to build new tech to fully realize our goals for Halo Infinite". Today, a new gameplay footage was released during the EA Play E3 2018 show.

Microsoft showed off not one, not two, but three new Gears of War games that are now in development.

Microsoft has been pretty cagey about what it will be showing off on Sunday, but that Walmart Canada leak from last month suggested that we'll see Forza Horizon 4, Gears of War 5, and a new Splinter Cell.

The studios being acquired by Microsoft are Playground Games, Ninja Theory, Undead Labs, and Complusion Games.

"We will join Master Chief on his greatest adventure yet to save humanity", said Xbox chief Phil Spencer following the trailer. And right off the bat, they delivered with a new installment in their most popular exclusive franchise.

Spencer was not shy in confirming the development of Microsoft's next console, and it's not hard to think that the expansion of first-party developers, renewed partnerships with Japanese developers, and improved background technology aren't meant to pay dividends at all this generation.

Playground Games. Microsoft has acquired United Kingdom -based Playground Games, a development partner since 2010 that has helped grow the "Forza" franchise to new heights.

"The original games we create at Microsoft Studios are some of our biggest assets", said Matt Booty, corporate vice president of Microsoft Studios. It will also, naturally, be an Xbox exclusive, but we're not sure if that exclusivity applies to a possible PC release. The company did not give any information about the game beyond a teaser trailer, but the name would imply either a Fortnite-like battle royale style game or a persistent world. The game, which was rumored in advance of the press conference, features the return of Master Chief and is rendered in a brand new graphics engine that 343 Industries is referring to as "Slipcase".
