Earlier today, MI basketball coach John Beilein withdrew his name from consideration for the Pistons job.

Casey and Beilein are coaches with tremendous pedigrees and professional options, and neither has fully committed himself in pursuit of the Pistons opening, league sources said.

On Wednesday, Michigan head coach John Beilein announced on Twitter that he will continue coaching the Wolverines next season.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Beilein and former Toronto Raptors coach Dwane Casey met with Pistons owner Tom Gores on Tuesday.

But that possibility is no more, as the 65-year-old Beilein reaffirmed his commitment to MI. He has led MI to the National Championship Game twice, including in the 2017-18 season when the Wolverines rattled off five straight NCAA Tournament wins before falling to Villanova. And according to outlets, Beilein interviewed with the team earlier this week.

Michigan's athletic director Warde Manuel voiced the same feelings. On Wednesday morning, Beilein took to Twitter and said he loves the University of MI.

Beilein's revised contract at MI was in the works prior to his discussions with the Pistons. He has guided the Wolverines to two Big Ten titles, eight NCAA tournament appearances and two national runner-up finishes. The Wolverines have made the title game twice under Beilein: this year, and in 2013 against Louisville.
