American celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain has been found dead in his hotel room in France while working on his CNN series on culinary traditions around the world.

Anthony Bourdain's girlfriend, Italian actress Asia Argento, has released a statement after the television chef died by suicide at age 61 on Friday (Jun 8). Christian de Rocquigny said that the Parts Unknown host used the belt of his hotel bathrobe to hang himself. He was a great storyteller as he collaborated food and travel to tel stories from around the world.

We here at Food52 are heartbroken to have lost such a talent today, one who's taught us so much over the years. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly hard time", said the statement released by CNN.

As he left the White House for the G-7 summit in Quebec, President Donald Trump, whom Bourdain had sharply criticized, offered his "heartfelt condolences" to Bourdain's family, which includes his 11-year-old daughter, Ariane.

"We both work a lot", he said, "and we're both away from home a lot so we're both circus freaks in the same circus-or different circuses I guess". "His brilliant, fearless spirit touched and inspired so many, and his generosity knew no bounds".

Argento asked people to respect her privacy and the privacy of Bourdain's family. He was my love, my rock, my protector.

During the show, Bourdain puts on tefillin by the Western Wall, takes a walking tour of the Old City with famed global chef Yotam Ottolenghi, eats a meal with an American-born settler, chats with members of the first all-Palestinian race vehicle team in Ramallah, and eats fire-roasted watermelon and other Palestinian foods in Gaza.

I'll never forget the post-revolution joy of someone caring about Libya for reasons other than oil/Gaddafi/war, or using his platform to humanize the dehumanized of Palestine and Iran.

The cause of death is believed to be suicide. "But that doesn't make me any less Jewish, I don't think". "Anthony, why?" McGowan said through tears.

Throughout the three decades of their friendship Tesar became a top-notch restauranteur while Bourdain's image and likeness exploded through his writing and TV shows.
