Google Pixel 3 XL live images reveal notched display, dual front cameras

The overall finish of this phone seems much glossier than last year's Pixel 2 line, which isn't a great thing if you care about fingerprints. There is a larger slit at the bottom of the device which confirms it has stereo front-facing speakers. It's unclear whether that'll be the same with the Pixel 3 phones, but it's likely to be the case. The Pixel 3 XL will not come with a 3.5mm headset jack either, which is something we saw on the Pixel 2 series.

Specifications for this device in particular list it with 4GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage.

Leaked images supposedly showing Google's Pixel 3XL - the successor to the current Pixel 2XL - were posted on the XDA Developers forum on Thursday.

As for the rear, it's nearly exactly identical to the Pixel 2 XL, except there's a new sensor in between the camera and the phone's flash.

The device also features a notch at the top of its display. It also looks like Google will continue with single rear camera at the back. In fact, the matte section looks nearly as though it's been painted on, and it doesn't run the whole way around the perimeter of the back, nor does it meet flush with the frame.

What do you think of the Pixel 3 XL? The inclusion of a fully glass back would of course allow for the return of wireless charging, something a few people would be happy about. Furthermore, the volume rockers and the power button are housed at the same spot as was on the previous generation.

In terms of availability, Bloomberg reported that Google plans to release the Pixel 3 smartphones exclusively with Verizon in October, as it did with the original Pixel and Pixel 2 phones. And if this is actually an early prototype of the phone, it's possible the final product could end up looking very different.

A separate report on the site reveals that Pixel 3 XL's code-name is "Crosshatch", which is the name of a type of fish. As we get closer to the inevitable launch in the fall, we expect many more leaks like this to develop.
