It will be a do-or-die game for Mumbai Indians (MI) when they host Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the 50 match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) here on Wednesday. Kieron Pollard who was got back in the team in place of JP Duminy registered his first half-century of the season.

This is unedited, unformatted feed from the Press Trust of India wire. Gayle and Rahul clobbered 19 runs in the third over off Hardik Pandya, with the West Indian hitting a six and a four while the Indian smashed back-to-back fours as Kings XI reached 28/0. But, they have managed to hold on to a three-run win after some exceptional death bowling from Jasprit Bumrah.

Pollard came to the wicket with the Mumbai Indians 71 for 4 in the ninth over and his 65 run partnership with Krunal Pandya (32) set the platform for a flying finish.

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) vs Rajasthan Royals (RR), IPL 2018 match will played on May 6, 2018.

The leaders: Despite a horror run of form that has seen Kings XI lose six of their last seven matches, the Punjab side possess both the Orange and Purple caps thanks to KL Rahul and Andrew Tye respectively. KL Rahul has scored 94 runs from 60 runs. Despite having just won two out of their opening six matches, MI secured three wins in a row when they beat KXIP and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) twice, once at home and the other away.

Thereafter, Yuvraj Singh had another chance to be a hearo but for that to be a reality he had to pull off a herculean task score 17 runs in the last over. Mumbai jumped to fourth in the Indian Premier League standings after registering their sixth win in 13 games.

The three people who were injured were nearby and were being questioned by investigators late Tuesday night, he said. Authorities will not enter the building until they "deem it safe", he said. "And the ground shook", he told CNN.

But much to his captain's relief, he kept his head and his nerve to slip in a full slower delivery that deceived Rahul and had him caught at long-off. The two teams have previously met in this year's IPL, with Mumbai beating Punjab on that occasion in Indore.

Tye used knuckle ball to a great effect as he accounted for Evin Lewis (9 off 7 balls), Ishan Kishan (20 off 12 balls) and Suryakumar Yadav (27 off 15 balls) to leave Mumbai Indians reeling.

Keeping with Mumbai's modus operandi, Krunal Pandya and Pollard too showed no inclination to take their innings deep.

A boost up the order wasn't as successful for Marcus Stoinis who fell to a rampant Bumrah short ball.

The star-studded Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore is at the seventh position in the IPL table but they can still qualify for the playoff berth if they win their remaining two matches. If both Gayle and Rahul get good starts they could open the flood gates for KXIP especially while batting at a small ground like Wankhede.
