News 18 says the chargesheet concluded that Pushkar killed herself and hence no one has been charged with murder.

The charge sheet also said that Pushkar died within three years, three months and 15 days of her marriage with the Lok Sabha MP from Thiruvananthapuram.

Two days before her death, a series of intimate messages, supposedly sent by the Pakistani journalist Mehar Tarar to Tharoor, were posted on Tharoor's Twitter account.

Delhi police later sent the viscera to the Federal Bureau of Investigation following a nod from the home ministry.

In their chargesheet filed before metropolitan magistrate Dharmendra Singh, the police alleged that Tharoor had subjected his wife to cruelty.

"Under Section 301 CrPC and also via JK International judgment of SC, I am entitled to assist the prosecutor in the Sunanda unnatural death case", he tweeted. The court is likely to take cognisance of the chargesheet on May 24, where Delhi Police might force his summon for further interrogation.

".they could not pursue or persuade any laboratory to become a willing tool to their conspiracy to frame Tharoor", he alleged.

On the basis of this PIL, in August, the Delhi High Court had questioned the city police over the delay in probing the death.

The 3,000-page final report, prepared under the supervision of police commissioner Amulya Patnaik, names Tharoor in column 11 (details of accused).

Tharoor was a cabinet minister at the time of Pushkar's death and rumours and publicity have engulfed the former junior foreign minister ever since. It was the third marriage for both Tharoor and Pushkar. Though some people in the Congress felt that Tharoor was trying to build bridges with the BJP leadership with his book "Why I am a Hindu", his position may be weakened if he gets convicted.

The petition was dismissed by the Delhi HC in October 2017, calling it "politically motivated".
