So far, they say there is no evidence of crime at the elementary school. This is reportedly the 21st school shooting in the United States this year.

The boy injured was also 14, and police stated that he was taken to the hospital after being shot in the arm.

On Friday, may 11, in the city of Palmdale in southern California, USA, the shooting occurred in the school, Highland High School, according to NBC Los Angeles.

Authorities say they caught a 14-year-old suspected of shooting a former classmate at a California high school after the boy called his father to say he fired his gun in the air and was headed to a grocery store near campus. The suspect, also a boy, was detained off campus by officers, who recovered a rifle, according to the department.

The motive for the shooting is unknown and it's unclear whether it is gang related, Schrader said.

One of the brothers, 16, told Munoz he heard one gunshot, and that students were running.

Three Americans released from North Korea
The three had been held for periods ranging between one and two years. "They want American investment coming to North Korea". Pence says Pompeo did a "remarkable job" overseeing their release and calls it a "proud and memorable moment for America".

She says there's no information about that caller and no confirmation of the report. The term "active shooter" was a focus in much of the reaction, though authorities initially told KTLA they were not describing the situation that way. The student said the suspect looked at him and told him to run, which he did, shouting at other students to do the same.

Police respond to a possible incident at Highland High School in California.

A message posted to Highland High School principal's Twitter account urged everyone to stay clear of campus. "The student said he was only joking, but deputies later found two semiautomatic rifles, two handguns and 90 high-capacity magazines at the student's home".

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives [ATF] tweeted that they were responding to the incident.

Sheriff's deputies also received a call reporting shots fired in the vicinity of Manzanita Elementary School about seven miles away from Highland High School.
