Maleficent Dragon Catches Fire in Disney World Parade Gone Wrong

According to "Disney Dan", the fire was extinguished quickly and cast members confirmed that "everyone is fine".

The Maleficent dragon float from the Festival of Fantasy Parade burst into flames today at the Magic Kingdom. There were no injuries to employees or visitors, it was reported.

Unfortunately, one of Disney World's fantastical monstrosities missed the memo Friday afternoon when its own head caught on fire.

The daily 12-minute parade has been a fixture at the theme park for the past four years.

But last summer, Branco sued the production, claiming he owned the rights and that Gilliam's finished version was "illegal". In a broader, separate case over the rights to the film, a Paris court issued a ruling favorable to Branco a year ago .

The steampunk-style dragon normally breathes fire as part of the show, but something malfunctioned and the entire head of the metal beast went up in flames.

Disney officials said operations remained normal throughout the rest of the park, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Park guest Jacob Easley shared video of the blaze on YouTube, which sees the dragon's head aflame and receiving sprays from a fire extinguisher. Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, Universal Orlando Resort and more - they can do it all, and at no extra cost to you!
