Amazon to create 3000 tech jobs with new Canada Post building headquarters

The Seattle tech giant today announced plans for a new 416,000 square-foot office in the Canadian city, with plans to employ an additional 3,000 people across fields like e-commerce, cloud computing, and machine learning.

Vancouver mayor Gregor Robertson, meanwhile, called the announcement "great news for our city's booming innovation economy".

"Our vibrant cities, which are home to some of the best talent in the world, are poised to attract premier investment that creates the jobs of tomorrow", Trudeau said in a statement.

Until the new Dunsmuir building opens, on a temporary basis, Amazon will continue to occupy 80% of the 80,000 sq. ft. of space at WeWork's first Vancouver co-working office location at the Bentall III office tower. In addition to the 6,000 Canadians that are already employed by Amazon across the country.

Red Cross seeks volunteers for 'Sound The Alarm' event
The American Red Cross of MA is embarking on a new campaign aimed at reducing deaths caused by fires in the home. Last year they helped 265 families impacted by fire, and has already helped half that number so far this year.

In November, the company announced 1,000 new tech jobs at its Vancouver office.

This will be Amazon's third and largest permanent office in the city after its 91,000-sq-ft TELUS Garden office and its new nine storey, 150,000 sq. ft. office building now being built at 402 Dunsmuir Street.

Currently, Amazon currently employs more 1,000 researchers and engineers in the city.

Amazon will soon have an even bigger presence in Vancouver.

For his part, Amazon vice president of Canada and Mexico Gagnon said the company was "excited" to create 3000 new "highly-skilled" jobs in Vancouver.
